When Ian Wood, the owner of the pub, made a hasty decision to sell up, the locals had very little time to take action. After a great deal of hard work and looking at various options, they decided on a community share offer. The pub had always been profitable which made the transfer and takeover a loteasier. Today 500 members jointly own the pub which has properly paid staff and a manager. The pub is run under Industrial and Provident Society rules governing a cooperative. They are proud to say they are the largest pub buyout project in Britain. We wish them continued success in the future.
